No, I'm not talking about former Detroit Red Wings head coach Mike Babcock. I'm talking about 3-time Stanley Cup winner Sergei Fedorov. Fedorov and Red Wings GM Steve Yzerman have a long history, playing 13 years together in Detroit from 1990 through 2003, winning a trio of Cups along the way. Fedorov also won coach of the year honours in the KHL this past season with CSKA Moscow. Could it be time for Fedorov to return to the NHL and try his hand at coaching in the best league in the world?
According to BetOnline, Fedorov is currently the odds on favourite to become the next head coach of the Red Wings, despite recently being quoted as saying he's excited to return behind the bench for CSKA Moscow next season. Per Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press, BetOnline has Fedorov listed at 7/2 favourite to be named the Wings' next bench boss.
Let's be honest for a minute though.. you don't think that if his old buddy Stevie Y called him up that he wouldn't at least listen to the offer?
