On Sunday afternoon during Game 4 of the Bruins/Hurricanes series, everyone's favourite pest, Brad Marchand, got into a heated verbal exchange with Hurricanes defender Tony DeAngelo, repeatedly shouting at the polarizing blueliner and calling him a racist.
DeAngelo's past teammates have downplayed and debunked the myths that he is a locker room pariah, with some respected veterans like Marc Staal going to bat for him with the media. The fact of the matter is that DeAngelo's past speaks for itself. He has been ousted from just about every team he's played for and he's had some pretty nasty rumours follow him around for the majority of his career.
Marchand always seems to know what to do and say to get guys riled up to try to take their focus off the game and play the game on his terms. This is a prime example of Marchand's desire to get under the skin of the opposition. It's why the Bruins have been so successful in the postseason and why Bruins fans adore him, not unlike the way Leafs fans embraced Darcy Tucker and have really taken to Michael Bunting in his limited time in Toronto.
