Bruins surging, Lightning lose to Columbus; Leafs vs Bruins now a legitimate possibility

With 2 games left in the season last night, the consensus was that the Leafs would be playing Tampa in the first round starting Monday. Tampa's final 2 games were against Columbus and the Islanders. Two teams that they should easily beat to secure third. Meanwhile the Bruins played Buffalo last night and will end their season against the Leafs tonight.

The Bruins beat Buffalo easily in regulation which means they would hold the tie breaker over Tampa should the bruins get one point against the Leafs and Tampa loses in regulation.

Almost all playoff bound teams are resting most of their stars the final week of the season, so it is very possible that Boston could sneak into third. There would be nothing better than the Leafs exercising their first round demons against the Bruins. Sure, the Bruins are still the playoff Bruins, but their goaltending is suspect, they have no Chara on the back end and while still a great player, Bergeron looks a step slower than last year.

The Leafs have never had a lineup as physical or as deep as the one they have built this season. Particularly on the blue line as Justin Holl, might have played himself out of the top 6 (thank god), to start the playoffs.

The Leafs are sitting a bunch of regulars tonight including Matthews and Marner, so it would be almost as surprising of a win as if the Islanders beat the Lightning tonight. It will be a nail biting evening for the Bruins and Lightning fans, and for once, Leaf fans can just sit back and relax.
