Carey Price makes important announcement on his playing career

A year ago, Carey Price entered the NHLPA/NHL player assistance program and has since suffered setback after setback with his recovery from multiple surgeries. Price was injured in the Habs' surprising 2021 cup run. His setbacks have led many to believe his playing career has come to an unfortunate, premature end.
Today, Price spoke to the media for the first time since early in the summer and where he made a surprising statement about retirement.
"I don't have a plan to reture right at this moment. Right now, my goal is to be pain-free day to day."

It's not the first time we've heard that Price is in a fair bit of pain trying to live a basic, day-to-day life, but it still sucks to hear. Price mentioned he has spoken to others that have had a similar injury and the same surgery that he is contemplating undergoing in the hopes to make a decision, but he does not want to have the surgery because it would be a risk to his quality of life away from the rink.
Price was also asked that if he knew he would have these injuries if he would do it all over again to which he replied;
"It's part of the cost that you pay, and I've paid it. If I were to do it all over again, would I do it? You know I would. The best thing you can do is try to take care of your body as best you can because this job is not easy and it's going to be demanding. There's no way around it, and you can't sugarcoat it. But the thing you can do is just try to manage yourself as best as you can; take care of your body, take care of your mentals and, as Marshawn Lynch said, take care of your chicken."
Glad to see Carey still has a sense of humour through all of this, but it is truly unfortunate that a generational talent like him could yet see his career cut short due to injury.
