Claude Giroux has agreed to terms on a 3 year deal with the Ottawa Senators carrying a 6.5 million dollar cap hit. Giroux is a native of Hearst, Ontario, so this signing will be a homecoming for him. Giroux was moved from the Flyers to the Florida Panthers at last season's trade deadline.

At 34 years old, Giroux is past the prime years of his career, but still managed to pot 21 goals and 65 points last season. A veteran of over 1000 NHL games, he will be a welcome addition to a young Senators core. He has a shot to eclipse the 1000 point mark in Ottawa as well. He is currently sitting at 923 career points.

The Senators appear to be making a push for the playoffs this season. Pierre Dorion has already added forward Alex DeBrincat to the lineup and brought in veteran goaltender Cam Talbot. How cool would it be to see the Battle of Ontario once again in the first round!
