If you've played hockey past a certain level, you'll be well aware of a longstanding unwritten rule of never stepping on the team logo in the locker room. This goes far beyond superstition. It's a respect thing. It's a time-honoured tradition. It's something that you just don't do.

As it turns out, the tradition is still being carried on by the next generation of players, as Connor Bedard, the 1st overall pick in the 2023 NHL Entry Draft, displayed during his media session on Thursday.

Bedard was taking part in a media availability from his locker stall in the Chicago Blackhawks locker room on Thursday when he spotted someone walking across the logo in the middle of the room. A number of voices, presumably from other players and team personnel in the room at the time instructed the media member to "get off of the logo". The look he gave, accompanied by the head shake in complete disapproval, told the whole story.

If you don't know, now you know. Obviously, not everyone has the same intimate knowledge of the inner-workings of a locker room. However, this seems like something that someone should have communicated to the perpetrator ahead of time. Everyone should know the basics and this one is a pretty basic rule - one that Bedard was frustrated to see broken.
