Crosby makes an absurd prediction for Connor McDavid's point total this season
Last season, we Connor McDavid produce the most dominant single-season in a very long time. The 26-year-old finished with 64 goals and an absurd 153 points - 25 more than his teammate and next highest scorer, Leon Draisaitl. His season led to him capturing his third Hart Trophy, fifth Art Ross Trophy, fourth Ted Lindsey Award and first Rocket Richard Trophy.
As all eyes are going to be on McDavid to see if he can out-do himself this season, one of the greatest of all-time and eventual first-ballot Hall of Famer Sidney Crosby sat down with NHL.com's Mike Zeisberger and discussed where he think's McDavid could end up this season in terms of points.
"I didn't think 150 was going to be in the cards for him but he found a way to get there. So, I don't think anything is out of the question for him as far as numbers are concerned," said Crosby when asked if McDavid could top 170 points.
No one has reached the 170-point plateau since another Penguin and Hall of Famer Mario Lemieux did it 1988-89 when he racked up 199 points. McDavid's 153 points last season was also the highest single-season point total since 1995-96 when Lemieux registered 161.
During his interview, Crosby also mentioned that having the chance to play with McDavid would be "pretty cool" should the NHL hold a best-on-best World Cup of Hockey in 2025 and go to the Olympics in 2026.
