Dangerous stick-swinging brawl breaks out at men's league game in Toronto
On Monday night at Canlan York, in Toronto, an ASHL (Adult Safe Hockey League) game took a violent turn and developed into an all-out brawl. Following a pair of players exchanging words at the benches, punches and slashes began to be traded and all hell broke loose.
Both teams have been suspended indefinitely by the ASHL while they investigate the incident. The ASHL has also informed both teams that permanent expulsion from the league is an option. CTV's Adrien Ghobrial described the scene with players "swinging their hockey sticks over their heads like a group of lumberjacks," while the ASHL called it "shocking and unacceptable".
According to many, there were "problem players" on both teams. Miraculously, there were no serious injuries from the brawl and police were not called.
