With under one week remaining until the NHL's trade deadline, teams are now going through all of their possible trade scenarios and some have already begun tabling offers.

On Monday, we saw the Colorado Avalanche act on an impulse, dealing a 2nd round pick and a defensive prospect to the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for bruising defensive defenseman Josh Manson. Hopefully the floodgates are about to open.

During an appearance on The Jeff Marek Show on Tuesday, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman had suggested that the Leafs have checked in on Tyler Motte in Vancouver to help boost offensive production on the 4th line.

As a pending UFA, Motte would likely be a pure rental, but he carries a $1.225M cap hit for the remainder of this season, so the price is certainly right for the Leafs. No confirmation from Friedge on what the asking price might be.

Friedman also hypothesized that the Leafs and Avs forward Travis Jost might be a fit, but with Jost being dealt to Minnesota this afternoon, I think it's safe to suggest that Jost to Toronto probably won't happen.
