As Oilers fans continue to complain about the media forcing Leafs content down their throats, their own media can't help but compare the Oilers to the Leafs. An article was published today discussing how the Oilers' defense is essentially better than the Leafs' and that Jack Campbell will have a better season playing behind a "more defensive" team. To say that the Oilers are a better defensive team is a bit of a stretch.

Yes, the Oilers made it to the Western Conference Finals, but that was going through a much weaker division and conference until they got manhandled by Colorado. Their supposedly better defense also allowed 5+ goals four times, including a 9 spot and a shorthanded goal from 165 feet away.

In one particular point of the article reads, "Campbell was good in Toronto, behind a team that never figured out how to play a game that wins when it counts. He could be better here behind a more responsible defensive team, one that has edged each season towards a team that can beat you 2-1 as adeptly as it can win 7-5 - whichever way an opponent wants the game to be played."

Saying the Oilers are edging their way to being a team that can win games 2-1 is a bit of a reach. They were only able to win one game in their run to the third round by scoring less than 3 goals. Not to mention, if it weren't for the ridiculously productive playoffs from both Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, they would've had major issues outscoring their defensive issues.
