It was a big hit, but also clean. Of course though, because it was McDavid, the Oilers weren't happy and immediately went after Lucic, who ended up wrestling with Evander Kane. Kane was the subject of taunts and chirps all night, and had a lengthy conversation with Matthew Tkachuk while they were both in the box after getting coincidental minors for roughing in the third.
Prior to Game 2 tonight, Kane said, "If they're going to go after our top guys, we're going to go after their top guys. We didn't do a good enough job of that." Essentially threatening players on the Flames like Lindholm, Gaudreau and Tkachuk saying that him and the Oilers will have a response for Lucic's hit on McDavid in Game 1. If Game 2 is anything like Game 1, tonight should be entertaining. If you're looking to watch round 2 of this years edition of the Battle of Alberta, remember it's a 10:30pm ET start time.
