After defeating the Vancouver Canucks Saturday night, the Leafs had an off-day on Sunday and practiced on Monday before departing for Sweden to take part in the NHL's Global Series this weekend.

Ahead of their departure, the Leafs announced that Martin Jones will be accompanying the team as their third goalie to many fans' dismay. It seems as though most believe the Leafs should have taken Dennis Hildeby, who has quickly climbed the depth charts for the Leafs and has been the best Marlies goalie so far. Check out some of the responses to the LeafsPR Twitter account.

While Hildeby, who is coming off of back-to-back shutouts, has certainly played well enough to deserve the trip home to see his family and friends in Sweden, the move by the Leafs will allow him to continue to play instead of having a week or more off, only participating in practices. Not only will it allow Hildeby to continue to play and the Marlies to ride a streaking goaltender, but it will also give Jones a chance to work directly with the Leafs' goaltending staff on the details of his game and help him fine-tune things before returning to the Marlies.

A fourth round pick of the Leafs in the 2022 draft, Hildeby has played in just four games for the Marlies this season, but has two shutouts and has posted a sparkling .950 save percentage and 1.26 GAA with a 2-1-1 record. He appears to have taken over the net from both Jones and Keith Petruzzelli, who have underperformed thus far posting save percentages below .880 and GAA's well above 3.
