The Panthers didn't provide the Carolina Hurricanes with any sort of a warm welcome in Florida in Game 3, not giving up anything in a 1-0 win over the Canes to take a commanding 3-0 series lead in the Eastern Conference Finals.
The passionate fans in Leafs Nation still have a sour taste in their mouths following the Panthers' 4-1 series win just 11 days ago. However, rather than focusing on the task at hand in the Canes, the Panthers' social media team appears to have taken a bit of a poke at the Leafs.
In a Twitter post on Monday afternoon, the Panthers' social media person mentioned that Game 3 would be kicking off at 8pm ET, using a cat emoji and a hurricane emoji to represent the Panthers and the Hurricanes. However, the graphic they chose to display was for Game 3 of the Panthers vs. Leafs series - a game which the Panthers secured a 3-2 OT victory to take a 3-0 series lead on the Leafs.
Honest mistake? Maybe, but it seems a little odd that the image selected has a big blue Leaf on it, rather than a red, black and white Hurricanes logo. The two logos aren't exactly similar in any way, shape or form. The Panthers also left the post up for longer than it should have remained active, given the number of fans pointing out the error.
