Bedard, who was drafted 1st overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in this year's draft, finished his pre-season with 5 points and is already setting the bar very high for his rookie season. The Calder Trophy frontrunner is the real deal and even his teammates know it.
On Saturday, another former 1st overall pick, Blackhawks winger Taylor Hall, met with the media following a 5-3 loss to the St. Louis Blues and had something very interesting to say about Bedard.
Yes, Hall is supporting a teammate, but he's certainly not under any obligation to bring forth a McDavid comparison. He volunteered that on his own, based off of the merit of Bedard's work throughout camp.
It's important to not here that Hall is not saying Bedard is going to be as good as McDavid was right off the hop. He's merely saying that Bedard belongs in the NHL and can absolutely play a key role for his team now. Everyone knows that Bedard is a special talent. I can't wait to see what he can do in his rookie year.
