Drafted 2nd overall in 2017, expectations were high for Nolan Patrick. His NHL career got off to a decent start in Philadelphia where he posted 30 and 31 points respectively in his first two seasons. Unfortunately, following the 2018-19 season, his career began to derail because of injuries, most notably post concussion syndrome.

On his 32 Thoughts podcast, Elliot Friedman stated, "I had heard a rumor in the summer that Nolan Patrick was going to retire. Then I was told that is not the case; Patrick has a salary for this year of $1.2 million. There is no point in him retiring, as he has a salary to collect. I think there would be a lot of people that would be surprised to see him play this year, and they wonder about his future too"

While Friedman didn't completely rule out a return for Patrick, it seems highly unlikely as he only managed to skate in 25 games last season. It's unclear of what injury he is dealing with, all that is known is that it is the classic "upper-body" injury. Patrick will join Golden Knights' goaltender Robin Lehner and Shea Weber on LTIR which will make the Knights cap compliant and provide them with around $3.8M in cap space.
