There were a lot of Leafs fans who had hoped this summer that the Leafs would be able to find a way to retain hard-hitting defenseman Ilya Lyubushkin, specifically because of the seamless fit on the right side after coming over last season.

While the fit seemed to be a good one in Toronto, the fact that Lyubushkin liked to lay the body always seemed to sit well with the fans in Leafs Nation as well. Ultimately, the Leafs could not meet Lyubushkin's asking price and he signed with the Buffalo Sabres as a UFA this summer.

On Tuesday night, Lyubushkin laid arguably the most devastating hit of this young season, absolutely FLATTENING Oilers prospect Dylan Holloway in the neutral zone. Holloway would leave the game with just under 4 minutes of ice time in the game and would not return.

When all is said and done this season, this one still may be the hit of the year and that's saying a lot with hundreds of games yet to be played. Obviously, you hope that Holloway is alright and makes a full recovery, but there's no doubt that he was absolutely rocked and may have suffered a concussion as a result of the hit. They call that the "suicide pass" in hockey and that one was textbook.
