Former Leaf Nikita Zaitsev threatens hockey fan over meme posted online

This past week, the Ottawa Senators made a splash when they waived veteran defenseman and former Leaf Nikita Zaitsev. The move sparked a lot of chatter online, plenty of which was critical of Zaitsev's play in Ottawa.

One Twitter user created a meme, making light of Zaitsev's many defensive miscues. As a result, both Zaitsev and his father, Igor, began to harass the user, with Zaitsev going so far as to threaten him via direct message.

At the end of the day, I can't blame Zaitsev for being defensive and upset as he is very obviously hurt by the Sens' decision to waive him when he believes he is an NHL defenseman. Where I draw the line is when a player threatens a fan over their opinion. Shameful behaviour by Nikita and his father.
