Former Leaf builds ridiculous and pointless clause into his new contract

Traded for a third round pick around this past season's trade deadline, Pierre Engvall was sent to the New York Islanders as the Leafs and now former GM Kyle Dubas needed to clear out some salary and a roster spot to load up at the deadline. In the 18 games he played for the Islanders, Engvall managed to record 5 goals and 9 points.

Engvall and the Islanders were unable to reach an agreement on a new contract before July 1st, but on the first day of free agency, they agreed to terms on a 7-year extension that will see him earn $3M per season until he turns 34. His new deal also includes a 16-team no-trade list for all 7 years of his deal. The length of the deal raised some eyebrows, as did the AAV and no-trade clause, but there was one additional clause in his contract that had everyone's eyebrows raised and left us all very puzzled.

When Engvall signed his contract, he had a full no-trade clause worked into his contract that would be in effect from July 1 to July 15, 2023 which is absolutely ridiculous. Yes, you read that correctly - a two-week full NTC.

For one, what is the point of having a full no-trade clause for two weeks? And two, can anyone believe that Lou Lamoriello actually agreed to it? This might be the most ridiculous, arbitrary an pointless clause I've ever seen worked into a contract.
