At the beginning of this season, Joseph Woll is making himself a headline story. Since being drafted by the Leafs in the third round of the 2016 draft, Woll has always been one of the top goalies in the Leafs' development system. At 25 years old, Woll is finally starting his first full season with the team and is proving the long wait for his arrival to be worth it.

A former Maple Leafs defenseman, Carlo Colaiacovo, is lauding Woll with praise - even saying he believes Woll will compete for a Vezina Trophy.

"I've seen enough of this kid play over the last two years that I believe this kid is the real deal. The Maple Leafs have a superstar that they are blossoming and allowing to develop in net. This guy, I think, is a future Vezina Trophy winner for the Maple Leafs." - Colaiacovo on Woll

Woll's play is certainly catching the attention of Toronto fans and media, and when you consider the subpar play from Ilya Samsonov, he has an opportunity to go on a run at the moment. In four games to start the season, Woll has had some memorable performances while boasting incredible stats, having a 1.33 GAA and a .961 save percentage.

Off the back of his incredible start, Sheldon Keefe has already admitted that Woll is pushing to earn a greater share of the starting opportunities. If he keeps up this play, he'll certainly be in the conversation as the goaltender of the future for the Leafs - and potentially in Vezina discussions down the line.
