The Edmonton Oilers have been actively shopping 30-year-old defenseman Tyson Barrie and may have found a suitor. The Montreal Canadians have been connected to Barrie and they may have exactly what the Oilers are looking for.

According to Elliotte Friedman the Canadians have been connected to Barrie, just hours after Daniel Nugent-Bowman reported that the Oilers are shopping the right handed defenseman.
This would definitely help the Canadians who have a gap in their roster after losing captain Shea Weber last year to injury/retirement.

In 73 games last season, Barrie amassed 7 goals and 34 assists for 41 points. Although his numbers aren't overly spectacular for a player who had the opportunity to play with Connor McDavid, it should be noted that a good chunk of his minutes were played in a bottom pairing role after new head coach Jay Woodcroft took over.

A fresh start on a team starting a rebuild could be exactly what Barrie needs to regain his form from his time with the Colorado Avalanche. He has proven before that he can be an elite offensive defenseman, almost hitting the 60 point mark in the 2018-2019 season with the Avs.
