The Stanley Cup Finals begin tonight between the Avs and Bolts, but that hasn't slowed down the rumour mill much. We're entering that time of the year in the NHL where some big names are floating around and there are some intriguing players already rumoured to be on the trade block, including Kevin Fiala and Alex DeBrincat. The newest name you can add to the list is Edmonton Oilers defenseman, Tyson Barrie.

Dan Kingerski is reporting that the Pittsburgh Penguins view Tyson Barrie as a possible replacement for long-time Penguin Kris Letang if they can't re-sign him this summer. Barrie signed a three-year deal with the Oilers last offseason for $13.5 million ($4.5M AAV). This season, he put up 41 points in 73 games and he was a key contributor in the Oilers playoff run.

If the Pens and Oilers do pull the trigger on a trade for Barrie, he would be a decent replacement for Kris Letang from an offensive perspective and would look great with the Penguins on their power-play. As far as the defensive side of his game.. well, we know that there is room for improvement there when it comes to Barrie.
