In his one season in Vancouver, Dermott only managed to skate in 11 games after suffering a concussion in training camp and a few "undisclosed" injuries. He became an unrestricted free agent this off-season and after a few weeks of fielding offers and ensuring teams he is now healthy, Dermott has officially signed a 1-year deal with Arizona, joining fellow former Leafs Alex Galchenyuk and Alexander Kerfoot.
Dermott's 1-year deal is a 2-way contract that will see him earn $800K with Arizona and just $450K if he lands in the AHL. He has yet to play consistently enough or stay healthy long enough to play a full 82-game season so far in his NHL career with the most being 64 games during the 2018-2019 season. Hopefully Dermott will be able to find a spot on Arizona's blueline this season and his "prove it" deal pays off for him next off-summer.
