The term ''bust'' is thrown around pretty loosely and is often used to describe players who don't quite live up to their draft position. There have been very few actual busts in recent memory, but one of them has officially announced his retirement at only 28 years old.

Griffin Reinhart was drafted 4th overall by the New York Islanders back in 2012, but played just 8 games for the Isles during the 2014-15 season before being shipped off to the Edmonton Oilers in exchange for the 16th and 33rd picks in the 2015 draft.

It wasn't all bad for the Isles though, as that 16th overall pick turned out to be Mathew Barzal. They used the 33rd pick, along with the 72nd pick in that same draft to move up to #28 overall, using that pick to select winger Anthony Beauvillier.

Reinhart played just 29 additional NHL games for the Oilers, recording 1 assist, finishing his NHL career with 37 games played and only 2 assists to show for his efforts. He went on to play two additional seasons in the AHL before spending 3 seasons in Europe, split between the KHL, DEL and EIHL.

Griffin's younger brother Sam has forged a pretty successful NHL career for himself, unlike his elder brother. Currently with the Florida Panthers, Sam Reinhart has registered 377 points in 532 career NHL games.

Congrats to Griffin Reinhart on his retirement and best of luck to him in whatever comes next.
