It's no secret that hockey players are creatures of habit. Most players are very superstitious and have some ridiculous routines in place to help keep their heads on straight. Some eat the same pre-game meal before game and some even have the same warm-up ritual, like stretching or a certain method of stickhandling. The one that I'll never understand is when a player is unwillingness to upgrade a certain piece of equipment.
I guess, as the saying goes, "if it's not broke, don't fix it", but I'm not sure holding onto the same jockstrap and wearing it for 15-20 years is something I'd be overly enthused about. Anyone who plays hockey knows how stinky equipment can get, collecting all that sweat. Crosby has way too many miles on that thing, but with only a few seasons left in his career, I'd imagine that it's pretty unlikely that he changes it now.
