We already know that goaltender Robin Lehner is set to miss the entire season, but now a second announcement has been made that a Vegas Golden Knight is set to miss the 2022-23 season. Golden Knights GM Kelly McCrimmon has officially announced that forward and former second overall pick Nolan Patrick will not play this season, confirming what many had expected. Patrick suffered an upper-body injury on March 25th and hasn't played since.

Since he was drafted into the NHL, Patrick has had bad luck, dealing with many injuries, including (but not limited to) a migraine disorder and a series of concussions. As a result, the Golden Knights will place the forward on LTIR, giving them some additional cap space. As of July, there were reports that Patrick had made no progress. This announcement appears to confirm those reports.

It seems likely that Patrick's NHL career will be over once his contract is up. There have been rumours that he may have been preparing to announce his retirement as early as this summer, but such a move doesn't make much sense, considering the fact that a retirement announcement would cost him his salary.

Patrick was drafted second overall in the 2017 draft to the Philadelphia Flyers. Unfortunately, due to his injuries, he has never had the chance to live up to his billing and his potential.
