The 2-time Stanley Cup Champion has dealt with his fair share of injuries this season, including an abductor injury he suffered at the beginning of the season. In 19 games this season, Murray has posted an 11-5-2 record with 1 shutout, a .911 SV%, and a 2.73 GAA, all season-highs since 2018-19.
Upon returning from the injured reserve in November, he went 8-1-2 with a ridiculous .932 SV% before slumping to the tune of 3-3-0 record while allowing 22 goals and posting a .882 SV% in the 7 games before his second injured reserve stint. He's been out of the lineup since the 17th of January when he allowed 4 goals on 8 shots but still registered the victory against the Florida Panthers.
With all the moves the Maple Leafs made ahead of the trade deadline and with all the rumours that were circulating, it seemed like the Leafs were going to be in a cap pinch if Murray was to indeed return before the post-season. However, GM Kyle Dubas completed the moves he needed to in order to leave the team with enough cap space to activate Murray and eventually sign Matthew Knies when his NCAA season comes to a close.
