The 2022 NHL Entry Draft has been an absolute gong show thus far, with Shane Wright slipping to number 4 and landing in Seattle after spending several years as the consensus #1, but the Montreal Canadiens did make a pair of deals to address a need at center after drafting Juraj Slafkovsky at #1.

Just ahead of the Shane Wright pick at #4, the Habs pulled off a trade with the New York Islanders, sending Alexander Romanov and pick #93 in exchange for pick #13 and then flipped #13 and #66 to the Chicago Blackhawks for center Kirby Dach.

The deal is the second high profile trade that he Blackhawks have pulled off on Thursday, with the first coming this afternoon in the form of Alex DeBrincat to the Ottawa Senators for picks #7 and #39 in this year's draft, as well as a 2024 3rd rounder. The Hawks now have picks #7 and #13, which bodes pretty well for their rebuild.

What a wild night so far and we're just getting started!
