The Sens pulled off the deal just 3 hours before the 2022 NHL Entry Draft was set to get under way, securing the 7th overall pick and the 39th overall pick in the draft, as well as a 2024 3rd round pick.
In DeBrincat, the Sens are getting an offensive beast who can score in a number of different ways, including off the rush and posted up in the circle on the power play. The 24-year-old has two 41-goal seasons and a 32-goal season under his belt in his first 5 seasons and figures to step right into a top line role in Ottawa.
The Blackhawks did not have a first round pick in this year's draft, thanks to the Seth Jones trade last summer. Now they've got a top-10 pick, a high 2nd rounder and a future 3rd rounder. Not a bad way to kick start the rebuild.
