Some interesting news to report from the draft floor, as NYI Hockey Now's Stefan Rosner has revealed that the Philadelphia Flyers are working to move former Leafs winger James Van Riemsdyk, forward Travis Konecny and defenseman Ivan Provorov.

The belief is that the Flyers could be trying to open up some cap space to take a big swing on Johnny Gaudreau, who grew up a Flyers fan. Rosner has suggested that Ivan Provorov may be a player of interest to the New York Islanders. He also mentions that the Isles may also be preparing to take a run at Gaudreau when free agency opens up next week and that acquiring Provorov may make it difficult for them to put together a competitive pitch to the soon-to-be former Flames winger.

In addition, Jeff Marek just reported on Sportsnet's coverage of the 2022 NHL Entry Draft on Sportsnet Ontario that the Flyers may attempt to handcuff the 5th overall pick to JVR in an attempt to move out the final year of his deal to give them some financial flexibility this summer with the Gaudreau pitch in mind.

The player who may interest the Leafs here is Travis Konecny, who was selected with the 24th overall pick back in 2015 - a pick that originally belonged to the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Leafs have reportedly been looking for an upgrade on the wing in the top six for several seasons and Konecny is not only that, but a cost-certain player, locked up at $5.5M through 2024-25.
