The Leafs are coming off of back-to-back regulation losses for the first time this season. First, the New York Rangers edged out the Leafs for a razor-close win 3-1 win, allowing a pair of goals to former Leaf Jimmy Vesey, including the empty-net insurance goal. Next, the Buds fell to the Capitals by a score of 5-2 in Washington in a much more lopsided affair.

There were a lot of questions coming into tonight's game against Tampa surrounding who the Leafs would start in goal. On one hand, it would be good to go back to Ilya Samsonov after his worst game of the season to help build up his confidence. On the other hand, you know Matt Murray wants that loss to New York back after allowing 2 goals on just 19 shots.

Well, it would appear as though Sheldon Keefe is continuing to alternate his goaltenders as Matt Murray was in the home net on Tuesday at the morning skate in Toronto. This is typically the indication of someone who is expected to start.

Murray needs a statement game tonight, plain and simple. He has posted sub- .900 save percentages in 3 of his last 4 starts, with the outlier being that sensational 44-save shutout against the Dallas Stars in Dallas. The Leafs also need this one in a bad way, as the Bolts are just 3 points behind them in the standings with 2 games in hand.
