At the start of 2022, Leafs Nation was reeling after hearing the news that 2020 15th overall pick Rodion Amirov had been diagnosed with a brain tumor. After battling hard through four rounds of treatments in Germany throughout the year, Amirov had traveled to Toronto to work out with the team's trainers and get in on some of the team meetings. He even got a chance to be a part of the home opener festivities before returning home to Russia.

After returning home, it was believed that he was in line to return at some point in November, but when a report had come out that Amirov would require additional treatments and would not be able to meet his original timeline for return, there was more concern than ever from the fanbase for his overall health.

This morning, Amirov posted a photo on social media this morning that is raising some eyebrows and has peaked the interest of Leafs Nation. The photo Amirov posted was of him smiling, with Russian text that translates to:

"The Lord gave me life and in his wounds I healed."

As vague as the message is, it has to be a positive sign that he's smiling, right? The passage may be about salvation, but any message about healing is good, right? We all have more questions than answers right now, but we'll all continue to pull for Rodion during the fight of his life. Hopefully this means he's trending in the right direction and that a more in depth update is on the horizon. Hopefully it's positive and that Amirov can put this nightmare behind him and continue on with his life.
