Insider indicates just how hot the seats really are for Kyle Dubas and Sheldon Keefe
This summer, the Leafs made the moves that they felt that they needed to make in order to put together a more well-rounded roster that can help propel them past the first round come playoff time. The most common thing we're hearing right now is that the regular season does not matter for this team. It's about what they do in the playoffs, this year more so than any other year.
On Thursday, NHL Insider Frank Seravalli joined Nick Alberga and Jay Rosehill on Leafs Morning Take and one of the items that was discussed was whether or not Sheldon Keefe or Kyle Dubas are on the hot seat in Toronto. Seravalli revealed that he doesn't see it that way.
"There's pressure on everyone, but I don't sense anything at all imminent in terms of Sheldon Keefe or Kyle Dubas being on the hot seat. I don't view that as a factor at all. Part of the issue for the Leafs to start is that everyone there, including their players and their stars know that really regardless of whatever happens this season - whether they're a 122-point team or whether they're a 97-point team, so long as they're in the playoffs - that they're only going to be judged on how the playoffs play out."

Many don't recall that the Leafs got off to an even slower start last season with plenty of concern surrounding the team around following a 2-5 start and then went on to post the best points percentage in franchise history.
With that in mind, maybe Auston Matthews is right to have come out on Wednesday and hinted that the Leafs will be fine and that everyone should lower the temperature a little bit. After all, if the only thing that matters is how they do in the playoffs, why are we losing our minds after 4 games at the beginning of the season?
