Prior to the morning skate, a few players were asked about how they plan to respond tonight and what the takeaways from the past few days have been. Blueliners Mark Giordano and TJ Brodie had different takes on how the team is going to respond, with Giordano saying, "We just need to oversimplify & play better. That's my theory." While Brodie believes the Leafs will "come out and play like we're capable of."
Making his season debut tonight, Nick Robertson, who joined the team Sunday after being recalled, believes everyone is hungry to get the win tonight and "sharpen up the details," and Michael Bunting said the team knows what they have to do tonight and that they will respond in a big way.
We should expect the Leafs to come out flying tonight, but they will have to be able to sustain their pace over the full 60 minutes to rebound against the Stars and their brick wall Jake Oettinger. If the Leafs don't play with more effort tonight, expect all the armchair GMs to be blowing up social media more than Monday night.
