If you'll remember a couple weeks ago at his season ending press conference, Kyle Dubas called on the teams' prospects to take the next step. He called on them to go from prospects and good marlies players, to NHLers. He also mentioned he had sat down with the Leafs top prospects like Robertson, Steeves, Niemela and others explaining to them what they had to do come training camp, the expectations of them and what they were fighting for.
It would seem that Dubas is doubling down on his statement from then as Chris Johnston was on TSN 1050 earlier this week and said that the Leafs would likely be looking at internal options to fill some roster spots. He reported that they'll give the Robertsons, Steeves, Andersons, & Holmbergs of the world every chance to make the roster. This is good news for the likes of Robertson and Anderson specifically who have been on the verge of cracking the roster but have lost out to signings that Dubas has made.
