Insider teases a significant move involving a goaltender

The best thing to come out of the NHL this season didn't come from the NHL at all. In fact, it was ESPN insider and former NHL goaltender Kevin Weekes. Not only was he the first to break most of the deals on trade deadline day, he did so while filming self made videos from the most ridiculous locations he could find and usually only capturing the top of his head while doing so. The NHL's free agency period was no different. Weekes' videos are now a staple of Hockey Twitter.

This one announcing Morgan Geekie's new contract from inside a dryer is my personal favourite.

This time Weekes isn't bringing us a trade or a signing, instead, a heads up. Unfortunately without a poorly shot video to go with it. The NHL's goalie market is evidently not set as of right now, meaning we could very well still see a big goalie move before the season starts.

The rumours of Dubas and the Leafs pursuing Connor Hellebyuck from earlier this week seem a little far-fetched, so that's not likely to be it. One goaltender we've been told to keep an eye on is Montreal's Jake Allen. The Habs have very little cap space right now and Allen is one of the few pieces that makes sense to move. They have Sam Montembault on payroll and need to get 23-year-old Cayden Primeau into more games.

As for teams that could be looking for a goaltender like Allen, the Blackhawks, Wild, and Coyotes could all be looking for another goalie to add and have the cap space to do so. If the Edmonton Oilers can open up some cap space, I'm sure they'd love to have a more reliable backup for Jack Campbell.

Hockey season is just over a month away and training camps are set to begin in two weeks time, so whatever this deal is that Weekes is teasing, it will have to happen relatively soon. We haven't seen him miss the mark often, so prepare for a move to go down soon!
