Everyone is waiting with bated breath to see what the Leafs are going to do this summer. We know that, barring a sudden change of heart by management, the Core 4 in its entirety is likely coming back. We know that there aren't expected to be many changes on the blueline, save for maybe one or two bodies coming in, while Justin Holl departs. Even in net, we're likely to have two of last year's trio of netminders as this year's tandem. So that just leaves the depth.

Today, during an appearance on The Jeff Marek Show, Elliotte Friedman threw something out there that should excite a large contingent of Leafs Nation, which is that the Leafs could be planning on building a much meaner, rougher, tougher team for the coming season.

"I think they're [TOR] gonna add some beef down the lineup. I wouldn't be surprised and I'm not necessarily saying it's gonna be these guys but like I wonder about like an Austin Watson or I wonder about a Ryan Reaves.

That's what a couple of people have said to me. They think the Leafs are gonna try to make their bottom-six a little heavier."

The Leafs were bullied by the Florida Panthers in the playoffs. That much, I think we can all admit. If the goal is to get a little meaner down the lineup, it could make for a very fun and entertaining regular season and still set the team up nicely for the playoffs. Long have we talked about how easy it's been to push the Leafs around. Well, if they bring in some big, nasty players this summer, they'll be much more difficult to bully.
