At the start of the year, Boston Hockey Now's Jimmy Murphy dropped some information that he believed that a couple of teams where interested in acquiring P.K. Subban from the New Jersey Devils. Two of the teams that showed the most interest, according to Murphy, were the Boston Bruins and the Toronto Maple Leafs, but the main roadblock in acquiring the veteran was largely linked to his cap hit. The ins and outs of such a deal made it more complex than both teams would've liked, especially at the start of the year, but could we see something happen around the trade deadline where contracts are prorated and a little easier to move?

If the Devils were to retain 50% of what's left on his current deal and a 3rd team was willing to jump in and retain some money as well (the Arizona Coyotes have been rumoured to be willing to do just that), Subban could become a hot commodity at the deadline. There are several teams that will be looking to bolster their lineup by adding some much needed depth and leadership to the right side of their blueline.

Despite not being the same player that won the Norris trophy with the Montreal Canadiens back in 2012-13 and being a finalist for the award again in 2017-18 with the Nashville Predators, Subban still has an impressive track record when it comes to the postseason, racking up 62 points (18 goals & 44 assists) in 96 games.

Knowing that Subban played his best hockey in one of the biggest hockey markets in the NHL, would Dubas contemplate bringing in the Ontario native prior to trade deadline? It would certainly provide his team with some stability on the right side and limit the number of minutes that rookie Timothy Liljegren would play during his first ever playoff run.
