A trade regarding Coyotes defenseman Jakob Chychrun has been expected for quite some time. As training camp begins, he remains with the organization. But for how long?
Again, the speculation regarding a Chychrun trade is nothing new. However, this is the first time Chychrun has spoken about the topic in detail and says he would like to be traded to a cup-contending team.
Chychrun was drafted 16th overall by the Coyotes in 2016 and had a breakout season in 2020-2021 when he led all NHL defencemen in goals. He finished last season with 21 points over 47 games but has been dealing with an ankle injury since mid-March.
That same injury will prevent Chychrun from participating in the Coyotes' training camp.
Regardless of how the season plays out and where Chychrun will end up is an unknown, but the 24-year-old is still ready to put effort as a player and teammate.
