Jason Robertson ends holdout, signs new deal in Dallas
Probably the least reported on holdout in the Salary Cap era has ended. Jason Robertson has put pen to paper and signed a new deal with the Dallas Stars. Robertson will be taking home $7.75M for the next 4 years for a total of $31 million. For those that don't know, Jason is the older brother of Leafs prospect Nick Robertson. With Jason bringing home big bucks and Nick looking like he's about to make the Toronto Maple Leafs out of camp, there's a lot to celebrate in the Robertson household right now.
Robertson had a breakout season with the Stars last year. The California native set career highs in goals, assists and points last season and was a rare bright spot in an otherwise forgettable season for the Stars. The 7.75M AAV puts Dallas right up against the NHL's salary cap, with about $85,000 to spare.
Details on the contract have not been released as of this writing, but we will update as more information becomes available.
With Robertson finally having put pen to paper in Dallas, Ottawa's Alex Formenton is the last remaining restricted free agent.
