Coming into this offseason, I think just about everyone had imagined that we'd be seeing American winger Johnny Gaudreau signing with his favourite childhood team, the Philadelphia Flyers, as a free agent. The setup for the move was about two years in the making, with several pundits, including Sportsnet's Eric Francis, believing that Johnny Hockey to the Flyers was just a formality at this point.

In the end, Gaudreau inked a 7-year deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets at a whopping $9.75M per season, shocking just about everyone who has their finger on the pulse in the hockey community. A short time later, a report had surfaced revealing that Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher never even made a pitch to Gaudreau or attempted to move some money in order to sign the highly-coveted free agent. A move that infuriated Flyers fans.

On Sunday, one Flyers fan attended a skate with several Flyers players, holding a sign that read "Fire Chuck Fletcher". The kicker? It was signed by Johnny Gaudreau.

Now, it's really anyone's guess if the sign actually read "Fire Chuck Fletcher" before Gaudreau signed it. For all we know, he may have signed a blank piece of cardboard and had written the message on afterwards. Then again, if Gaudreau truly did want to play for his favourite childhood team and Fletcher got in the way of that, it's not out of the realm of possibility that he found it hilarious that signed it willingly.
