Ahead of last night's 4-2 loss to the Detroit Red Wings, Toronto Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe surprised many with a completely revamped lineup. The changes included Mitch Marner on the third line and Pontus Holmberg on the first line. It also included a surprising scratch in Bobby McMann, who had been a mainstay on the fourth line since being recalled.

Following the game, Keefe updated the public on why McMann was a late scratch and the outlook for him going forward.

"He probably could've gone today but the nature of the injury is one that, if you're not careful, it can become a greater issue."

Keefe went further to explain that McMann is currently day-to-day. Based on Keefe's comments, noting that the injury is something that can become a greater issue, it may have been a groin or hamstring issue that kept McMann out of the lineup last night.

The Leafs have a couple of days off before taking on the red-hot Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday night to begin a four game road trip, so we will have a better idea of the extent of McMann's injury Monday after practice or after the morning skate Tuesday.

It's unclear at this point whether Matthew Knies will remain on the Leafs' 4th line in McMann's spot or if he'll move up if McMann is good to go on Tuesday.
