When asked about Samsonov's availability today, Sheldon Keefe roasted the media by asking, "Have you been talking to Vasilevskiy at all in this series? Let him play goal."
Keefe makes a good point as we have not heard much, if anything from Vasilevskiy since the series started and over Tampa's 3 consecutive runs to the Cup Final, he was never a focal point for media members. Whether that is something Tampa did or Vasilevskiy himself, it has clearly worked for him, so why shouldn't the Leafs follow suit?
Over his last two games, Samsonov has posted save percentages of .909 and .923, giving up just 5 goals on 61 shots and out dueling his countryman in the goaltending battle. He will look to help the Leafs take a stranglehold on the series Monday night when the puck drops for Game 4.
