For those who don't know, the Golden Knights attempted to trade Dadonov and a 2024 conditional second to the Anaheim Ducks for Ryan Kesler and John Moore. Both Moore and Kesler are on LTIR. The trade would have given Vegas the cap space needed to activate other players in their organization currently on LTIR. Essentially, they gave up Dadonov and a second for nothing but cap space.
The problem is, Dadonov had a no trade list as part of the contract he originally signed with Ottawa Senators before being dealt to Vegas. Vegas didn't ask and the Sens didn't tell, and so the Knights were unaware that Dadonov had an M-NTC. Incredibly, public sites like Puckpedia and Capfriendly knew, but somehow Vegas didn't. The NHL overturned the trade and sent Dadonov back to Vegas.
The Golden Knights will play the Nashville Predators tomorrow night, and they expect Dadonov to be in the lineup. One wonders how much of an effort Dadonov will put forward for the team that tried to trade him for nobody. One things for sure, it's going to be a little awkward around the Knights dressing room when Dadonov is around!
