On top of Dubas revealing to the media that he could not confirm whether or not he and Sheldon Keefe would be back with the team next year, he also mentioned that if he is back as the team's GM next year, he would consider trading any piece on the roster if the deal benefitted the Leafs and got them closer to a Stanley Cup, which means that he would at least consider offers on any roster player, including his budding young stars.
That's one hell of a pivot from the stance that Dubas took at least year's season-ending presser, where he completely backed his core and displayed his confidence in the group that they had coming in the 2022-23 season. But hey, this one is on the players. If everyone wanted to stick around, winning more than 1 round was a good way to accomplish that goal. Instead, they failed to execute against a Florida Panthers team who barely qualified for the playoffs in 5 games.
