Not long after, Sheldon Keefe informed the media that Murray had suffered an ankle injury and that despite going several practices with no issues, he experienced a bit of a flare up and would miss some time with the injury. He also informed the media that Murray would be re-evaluated after the break.
The Leafs have yet to provide an official update on Murray, but they did bring in Joseph Woll on an emergency loan on Tuesday evening, which might indicate that Murray is not as far along in the recovery process as the Leafs would like him to be.
The Buds still have a couple of days before they return to action against the Columbus Blue Jackets, so there's certainly some time for Murray to turn a corner in his recovery and be good to go in time for Friday's game in Columbus, but if I had to guess, I'd bet the Leafs will play things a little more cautious with Murray with the playoffs just around the corner. They likely will not rush him back before he's back to 100% and why would they, with Ilya Samsonov playing so well in recent weeks?
I'd imagine we'll have more clarity on the Murray situation in the coming days with the Leafs expected to begin ramping up activities on Wednesday and Thursday in preparation for Friday's tilt with the Jackets.
