Minten was involved in a bit if a scuffle after finishing a check on a falling opponent at the end of the first period on Friday, but Minten, 18, more than held his own in the altercation and aside from a little nick under his eye, he was no worse for the wear. He admittedly thrives in those situations.
Following day two of the tournament, Minten spoke with the media about his performance so far in Traverse City. Among the big takeaways for him in the first couple of games are the pace of play, the opportunity to learn from playing at this level and the fact that he's grateful to be able to play with players like Nick Robertson and Alex Steeves in a prominent role at this tournament.
Minten, above all else, seems to be a really intelligent kid with good self-awareness and a solid grasp on the expectations that the team has for him this summer and for the year ahead back in the WHL with the Blazers. He seems to be soaking up everything from summer development camp, rookie camp and the tourney in Traverse City like a sponge. He's quickly become one of the Leafs' most intriguing prospects.
