Leafs GM Kyle Dubas caught up in a heated exchange with Lightning fans
WOW! What a game! The Leafs looked like they were in trouble for a while. Down 3-2 with the minutes ticking off the clock in the 2nd period. A half race, half battle for a loose puck between Morgan Rielly and Brayden Point sent the latter careering into the boards at high speed. After the hit, all hell broke loose on the ice, Steven Stamkos even attacked Auston Matthews for some reason.
During the altercation, which went on for quite a while, Lightning fans began jeering at Kyle Dubas, whose box seats were only a few feet above the fans. Dubas responded angrily, yelling back and gesturing with his hands. The video, shot by a fan in the stands, doesn't pick up what is being said, but we can safely assume it wasn't an exchange of pleasantries.
Possibly the funniest part of the entire video is Jason Spezza, seated beside Dubas, steadfastly ignoring everything going on around him. Things never escalated beyond heated words, but it's very cool to see the Leafs GM so fired up. More proof that Dubas, who grew up in and around the arena in Sault Ste. Marie, is a bona fide hockey guy. I gotta say, I love the energy.
