The Leafs are set to play their final game of the 2021-22 regular season on Friday night against arch rivals the Boston Bruins, with the primary goal being to get out of the regular season as healthy as possible.

The goal, from the Bruins perspective, is to come away with a big win on Friday in hopes of passing the Tampa Bay Lightning for 3rd in the Atlantic Division and a 1st round date against the Leafs - but, of course, that will require the Bolts losing to the Isles tonight as well.

The Leafs will have several notable healthy scratches on Friday, including Auston Matthews, John Tavares, Mitch Marner and Jack Campbell as they look to preserve each of them for the postseason. As a result, the Buds have announced that they have recalled Marlies forward Joey Anderson, who is expected to play tonight.

Anderson has had a strong season for the Marlies this year, appearing in 55 games and registering 26 goals and 42 points. The 23-year-old did see time with the Leafs this season, playing 4 NHL games, but was held pointless over those 4 games.

Anderson was acquired by the Leafs from the Devils back in 2020 in exchange for winger Andreas Johnsson, who was a cap dump for the Leafs to open up some space. Johnsson still has one year remaining on his deal, which carries a $3.4M cap hit.
