It appears as though the big dogs are all getting the night off, kicking their feet up for a bit of a rest after a grueling training camp with the Leafs opting to dress a predominantly rookie lineup. As far as NHL veterans go, the Leafs are dressing Calle Jarnkrok, Sam Lafferty, Kyle Clifford up front tonight to support the likes of Easton Cowan, Pontus Holmberg, Nick Robertson, Roni Hirvonen, Ryan Tverberg and, of course, Fraser Minten.
The D corps will consist of Simon Benoit, Mikko Kokkonen, William Lagesson, Maxime Lajoie, Tommy Miller, Topi Niemela and Marshall Rifai and, as previously announced, Joseph Woll will get the full 60 minutes in goal tonight, with Dennis Hildeby drawing backup duties.
Obviously, the biggest storylines here are whether or not one or two of Nick Robertson, Pontus Holmberg, Noah Gregor and Fraser Minten can do enough to earn a roster spot tonight. Robertson hasn't exactly been a camp standout the way he was last fall. Holmberg has been solid, but unspectacular. Gregor has been noticeable on almost every shift, and Minten has often been the best player on the ice for either team during this pre-season, so my guess is that those are the two who are the current frontrunners to win a spot.
Buckle up, folks - I have a feeling that tonight is going to be a fun one.
