The Leafs ended up dropping a 5-4 OT decision to the Habs, much to the chagrin of the hometown crowd in Toronto, after the Buds gave up a 4-2 lead in the 3rd period. It wasn't the prettiest game, but there were some strong signs of life from the Leafs, who will only get better as they build more chemistry over the next week before their regular season begins on October 11th against those same Canadiens.
Following the game, the Leafs' PR team announced on Twitter that two more members of the Leafs' training camp roster had been cut in goaltender Keith Petruzzelli and defenseman Tommy Miller.
With these two roster cuts, the Leafs have now trimmed down to 13 defensemen and 4 goalies, while still carrying 19 forwards. Another large cut is expected to occur later this week, which could find a few Maple Leafs on waivers, including Martin Jones. There was also some speculation over the last couple of weeks that Ryan Reaves could also land on waivers to give the team some added flexibility, though he won't actually be assigned to the AHL's Toronto Marlies.
